Roger Williams Internship and Career Fairs

Each semester Roger Williams University partners with employers from a variety of industries looking to recruit Hawks for job opportunities and internships. The CCPD manages school-specific and all major internship and career fairs to offer students and employers the unique opportunity to connect and engage.

Types of Internship & Career Fairs

The Center for Career and Professional Development hosts both virtual and in-person internship and career fairs. Virtual internship & career fairs are held on the Handshake internship and job platform.  These larger recruiting events are designed to help students network, interact and connect with employers and alumni from a variety of industries about potential job or internship opportunities.

Ways to Engage

Registration and details for all fairs can be found in Handshake. To access a fair and to register for an event, visit rwu.joinhandshake.com > Events > Career Fair.  If participating in a virtual event, students must build a schedule with employers that includes group and 1:1 video sessions.

1:1 vs Group Sessions in the Virtual Fair Format

  • Group sessions

Group sessions are designed to be informational sessions for employee representatives and recruiters to market their business and available opportunities. Employers will be displayed on the screen and will only be able to view participating student names. If you are a student looking for general information on a company, registering for a group session is the right choice for you!

  • 1:1 Sessions

1:1 sessions provide the opportunity to chat with a recruiter or an employee representative about jobs and internships. These brief 1:1 sessions allow you to ask questions of employers, seek information regarding an open position, and provide a means to network. If you are a student looking to make a personal connection with an employer attending the virtual fair, registering for 1:1 sessions are the right choice for you!

How to Prepare

Whether attending a virtual or an in-person fair, engaging in proper preparation before connecting with employers is essential. Review the following checklist and meet with a career advisor to ensure you are fully prepared and confident to speak with employers about internship and job opportunities.
