Read on to learn more about her next chapter following graduation.
What was your program of study at RWU? I am graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree and a minor in Sustainability Studies.
Graduation year? 2024
Where is your next adventure? (Company/School and Role) This summer, I will be interning at Gensler in their New York City office. I will then be returning to RWU in the fall to complete my Master of Architecture degree.
What are you most looking forward to in this new role? I am excited to learn from experienced architects and designers at Gensler and be a part of the exciting projects that the firm takes part in. I am also looking forward to continuing my education and using what I learn this summer towards my graduate degree.
What was the process like of landing this job/next opportunity? This semester, I attended the Cummings School of Architecture Career Fair providing me the opportunity to speak to professionals at Gensler and learn about the firm. I researched the firm more on my own and after learning more about the projects and exciting opportunities they offer, I decided to apply for the position. After applying, I was able to interview with professionals at Gensler and receive an offer to join their team for the summer.
Who helped you during your job search/graduate school process? Some of my former professors at RWU and other professionals in the field encouraged me to continue my graduate education and gain experience working at different firms over the summer. The Career Fairs provided by the Cummings School of Architecture and Center for Career and Professional Development also helped in finding internship opportunities and lead me to my position this summer.
What advice do you have to students who are in the process of finding a job/going to graduate school? I would encourage students in search of jobs or applying to graduate school to use the resources and connections provided by RWU to gain opportunities towards the next steps in their careers. Building connections with your peers, professors, and professionals in the field can lead to unique opportunities for RWU students and build your network for the future.
