Hawks Hired! Paris Inacio ’24

Hawks Hired highlights the accomplishments of soon to be and recent RWU graduates as they finalize the next steps in their career journeys. Paris graduated in May 2024, and is now an Associate Strategist at GYK Antler in Boston, MA! Read on to learn more about her next chapter following graduation.

What was your program of study at RWU? I was a marketing major at the Gabelli School of Business with a minor in graphic design and a core concentration in professional and public writing.

Graduation year? I graduated in the Class of 2024.

Where is your next adventure? (Company/School and Role) During my last few weeks of my last semester, I landed a job as an Associate Strategist at GYK Antler in Boston, MA! GYK is an independent, integrated advertising agency that services a wide range of clients from all over the country across many industries.

What are you most looking forward to in this new role? In this new role, I’ve loved getting to dive into different projects to service the needs of multiple clients, and dig deep into each of their opportunities to build strong strategic narratives. I’m looking forward to continuing to develop as a strategist and to apply more of the foundational tools that I learned during my time at RWU!

What was the process like of landing this job/next opportunity? Everyone can agree that finding a new role post-grad can be inherently daunting, so it was important to me to find a company that really aligned with my values and had a strong company culture to make the process feel more personal. After a few rounds of interviews and connecting with the team over at GYK, landing this role felt so right and I was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with some of the best in the business!

Who helped you during your job search/graduate school process? Professor Gerry Matos was such a strong mentor to me throughout my senior year and during this post graduation period of figuring out exactly what I wanted to do. I credit so much to his guidance and advocacy during this process. As I participated in the National Student Advertising Competition, a program in which he advised, he worked with me to identify my strengths and exercise my weaknesses to prepare me for the industry, which I am forever grateful for!

What advice do you have to students who are in the process of finding a job/going to graduate school? Networking is such an integral way to build connections and be noticed by companies/recruiters. Utilizing the network you have and expanding to meet new people is such a great way to put yourself out there! Having a strong resume is table stakes in today’s job market, so highlighting what makes you unique as a candidate and showcasing any experiences or background you have can set you apart! Stay resilient and be yourself – you got this!
