To effectively navigate the interview process, I’ll follow these steps
| Review the Interview Guide | I’ll start by reviewing the interview guide to become familiar with the various mediums and types of interviewing. This will help me understand what to expect depending on the position and employer, whether it’s a phone interview, video call, or in-person meeting. |
| Connect with a Career Counselor | I’ll work with a Career Counselor to review the interview guide and receive support in answering interview questions, from the classic “Tell me about yourself” to behavioral and situational responses. Their guidance will help me refine my answers and approach. |
| Complete a Mock Interview | To strengthen my interviewing skills and become comfortable with on-the-fly responses, I’ll complete a mock interview with a Career Counselor or attend various programs designed to enhance my interviewing abilities throughout the semester. |
| Research the Company Thoroughly | I’ll research the company in depth, including reviewing its social media and recent news updates or conducting informational interviews with individuals within the organization. This will give me insight into the company culture and talking points on what to expect in the organization. |
| Send a Personalized Thank-You Note | After concluding the interview, I’ll promptly send a personalized thank-you response. This professional touch will help me leave a positive impression on the employer. |
| Track Interview Dates and Follow-Ups | I’ll keep track of interview dates and work with my Career Counselor on follow-ups. This will help me stay organized and maintain a timeline for offers and future interviews, ensuring I manage the process effectively. |
| Engage on Campus | Attend Programs: I’ll review the CCPD calendar of events each semester to attend tailored programs aligned with interview preparation. This will challenge my comfort zone and help me practice communicating effectively about my skills and abilities. Drop-In Hours: I’ll contact a Career Counselor during School Drop-In times for quick questions or guidance. Reviewing the drop-in hour schedule allows me to find convenient times to get started and stay connected with my Career Counselor. |

To begin to bring my skills to life, I’ll take the following steps:
Assessing My Design:
The Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) will continuously engage with me through one-on-one appointments with a Career Counselor. They will equip me with everything I need to ace the interview and land an offer. I’ll be prepared to fully understand the organization, the position’s framework, and myself. Guided through various activities and instructions from my career community, I’ll feel inspired to attend mock interview programs or professional development events to enhance my interviewing technique. Practice makes perfect, and I’ll utilize Interview Mastery effectively in my Soar by Design plan.

By the conclusion of Interview Mastery, I aim to have acquired the skills and confidence needed to excel in all aspects of the interviewing process. Through comprehensive guidance and support, from adequate preparation to thoughtful follow-up, I’ve developed a deep understanding of interview dynamics. Interviews are about impressing employers and evaluating the suitability of opportunities based on my personal goals and values.
