Debt Capital Markets (DCM) + Debt Syndicate
SMBC Nikko’s Debt Capital Markets (DCM) group focuses on debt origination, structuring, and execution across a variety of securities, ratings categories, industries, and currencies. The team works closely with Syndicate and other related products as well as Corporate & Investment Banking (client coverage/relationship management) to service SMBC’s issuer fixed income needs.
Debt Syndicate is the execution arm of the Debt Capital Markets team, responsible for the marketing, placement, and pricing of primary fixed income offerings. Primarily working on USD-denominated issues, the desk advises a diverse basket of global clients to tailor capital markets solutions to meet a range of financing needs. The desk works in conjunction with the Fixed Income Sales and Trading Group to market new debt, assessing/building investor demand and advising clients on available opportunities in the capital markets.
Fixed Income Sales & Trading (FIST)
SMBC Nikko’s Fixed Income Sales and Trading (FIST) offers a broad range of investment services specifically tailored for institutional investors. Staffed with highly experienced and knowledgeable professionals, our Fixed Income team offers deep economic insight, a wide array of product offerings, and seamless execution across a wide variety of markets. Our product line includes a broad range of Corporate, Asset-Backed, and Government Securities in addition to Project Finance, Repo and other Fixed Income instruments. The team is dedicated to providing superior solutions to the unique return and risk management needs of our clients.
Loan Capital Markets (LCM) + Leveraged and Acquisition Finance Group (LAFG)
The Loan Capital Markets (LCM) Department is responsible for the structuring, underwriting, execution and distribution of syndicated loan transactions across all industry and origination groups at SMBC. LCM professionals work with and advise the front office marketing (origination) units in order to successfully pitch corporate and financial sponsor clients in a combined effort to win lead-mandates for syndicated loan facilities. Proposals to prospective clients usually involve coordination and partnership with other SMBC and Nikko (our Securities unit) product groups (Debt Capital Markets, FX, Derivatives Marketing and so on) in order to provide comprehensive, multiproduct financing solutions to our clients. Once a lead mandate for a syndicated loan is received, the LCM team is responsible for execution and distribution of loans to both banks and institutional investors.
Leveraged Finance is a client-facing division of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, responsible for delivering the full front-to-back spectrum of lead leveraged loan and high yield bond solutions to our client base including, private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies and non-Investment grade corporates. Leveraged & Acquisition Finance interacts with bank and institutional clients via its Sales & Trading desks within the broader Loan Capital Markets and Nikko Fixed Income platforms.
