Job Overview:
WaterFire seeks a highly motivated, self-starting student who is energetic, a team player, results-oriented and dedicated to the achievement of personal and team goals. The intern selected will provide support to the Manager of Educational Programming and Partnerships and gain valuable skills and insights into program development, recruitment and engagement with school and college programs. This internship may also gain experience working with the general public in the WFAC retail outlet.
Responsibilities:
WaterFire is a seasonal event and responsibilities will vary accordingly per the discretion of WaterFire Providence administration.
- Assist with organizing work based learning programs, service learning opportunities and internships.
- Research and develop a database of individuals, educators and programs working with WaterFire.
- Assist with the coordination of students, interns, programs, including posting of new opportunities, programs..
- Assist with managing orientation and training initiatives for new interns.
- Organize and prepare orientation materials and communications including emails, handbooks and schedules.
- Manage student and intern inquiries and applications.
- Develop and deliver small group orientations.
- Assist WaterFire Providence staff as needed with respect to event production and organization’s needs.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills and the ability to excel at details, multitasking, and working under deadlines.
- Outgoing self-starter but, collaborates well in a team environment; Customer-service approach.
- Previous experience with volunteer organizing, customer service, or event coordination are a plus.
- Must be available to work all WaterFire Lightings throughout the duration of the internship.
- Must have a genuine interest in art, culture and community, and WaterFire.
- A sense of humor and positive outlook!
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Google Drive and have general computer and internet knowledge.
