The Society of Professional Journalists is a national organization dedicated to improving and protecting journalism. Its mission is to promote the ethical practice of journalism and freedom of speech. Our Chapter is devoted to furthering the budding journalism culture on our campus by hosting events and programs that will continue to enhance journalism at Roger Williams University. The purpose of the Society of Professional Journalists is to promote the ethical and accurate practice of journalism by advocating for freedom of speech and of the press. We strive to improve journalism as a craft and protect its core values to ensure longevity. We seek to educate and enhance the community through programming, workshops, and other events. We maintain an open forum for discussion and debate, forge bonds, and look into new methods for practicing the craft of journalism. We act as a resource for journalists, both professional and aspiring, as well as all other communication majors and enthusiasts.
